A lovingly restored Blue Mountains French Country manor renovation featuring with Intrim’s skirting, architraves and wainscoting throughout.

Set across 15 acres near Jenolan Caves in NSW’s Blue Mountains region, Hartley House Farm is a French Country-inspired sandstone manor shaped by a deep connection to France and country living. Designed primarily as a family retreat and hosting small events, the home balances elegance with practicality.

Following a devastating fire in 2022 that destroyed much of the main residence, the home was extensively rebuilt and renovated, with works completed in late 2025.

Interior designer Lurleen Kirkwood of I For Style led the restoration, working closely with the owners to honour the home’s European character while introducing comfort and durability suited to contemporary use. Antique and salvaged pieces sourced over time were layered throughout the interiors, adding depth, warmth and authenticity.

Classic proportions and traditional detailing define the spaces. Intrim’s SK450 profile has been used consistently for skirting and architraves, reinforcing the home’s sense of scale and formality. Wainscoting throughout the interiors features Intrim’s IN31 inlay mould paired with the CR23B chair rail, providing structure and detail while remaining true to the home’s French Country influence.

Beyond the main residence, the renovation extends outdoors with new entertaining areas including an outdoor kitchen, pool, and sauna. These additions support the home’s dual role as a private retreat and a welcoming destination for guests.

The result is a carefully rebuilt country manor that feels grounded, generous and considered. A home shaped by experience, restored with intent, and designed to be lived in and shared.
